Adventure Trail

Went down to southern Indiana this weekend and knocked out the 23 mile Adventure Trail loop. A group of us went out there last spring, but three bugged out with about seven miles to go. Two of those three wanted to try it again. This time everyone made it, although we only parked cars in one spot, not giving us much of an option other than finishing. Ticks were bad and there was lots of poison ivy along the trail. The trail's moderately hilly and water can be a problem (it was this weekend). The Blue River borders one side of the trail with easy access to water. Indian creek runs along the other side of the trail, but it's a good, steep 200 ft climb down to the water. Luckily we found a spot with a little water about a mile before Indian creek, and none too soon. I was completely out of water when we found it and was not looking forward to huffing it down to the creek. We had a little drizzle Friday night, but the rest of the weekend was dry. We did get a little off track once and added about a mile to our hike. You have to pay close attention to the trail markers because there are a lot of horse trails and it's easy to wind up hiking down a horse trail by mistake.
